Bold headline: Layoffs ripple through a major studio as EA reshapes its lineup.
Electronic Arts (EA) has revealed layoffs affecting a broad range of roles at Full Circle, the Burnaby-based studio responsible for one of the company’s newest and most popular titles.
Full Circle shared the news with Skate fans via an online update on Wednesday, February 25, explaining that the studio is in the midst of transformation as Skate continues to mature and evolve.
“We’re reshaping Full Circle to better support Skate’s long-term future,” the studio wrote. “These shifts mean changes to our team structure, and some roles will be impacted.”
About Full Circle: it’s an EA AAA game development studio founded in 2021 as part of EA’s network. Its LinkedIn listing places the team at 51–200 employees, with Skate as its current project. Since its early-access release in September, Skate has drawn tens of millions of players, according to Full Circle.
The company has not disclosed the exact number of staff affected by today’s layoffs. Daily Hive has reached out to EA for additional details.
In a message from Full Circle, the studio added: “The teammates affected are talented colleagues and friends who helped build the foundation of Skate. Their creativity and dedication are deeply ingrained in what players experience today. This decision is not a reflection of their impact, and we’re committed to supporting them through this transition.”
Several developers impacted by the layoffs have posted on LinkedIn. One former employee stated, “I’ve been impacted by the layoffs at Full Circle. If your team needs an Environment Artist and Designer with 9 years of experience, I’m looking for work.” Another shared, “Hey everyone, unfortunately, today was my last day at Full Circle. If you’re looking for a passionate and creative 3D artist, please reach out.”
EA has seen multiple rounds of layoffs over the past few years. In 2025, hundreds were affected by layoffs across EA Sports and Respawn. The year before, EA announced layoffs equating to about 5 percent of its workforce. And in 2023, BioWare, a well-known EA studio, conducted mass layoffs described by EA as an “extremely difficult day.”
